Re: C64 Reloaded

I wonder if the shipping would have stayed at 24 Euro ordering two boards?

Re: C64 Reloaded

Both handing and packing would be a few more Euros

Which would explain Jens' insistence on using his cart system

Re: C64 Reloaded

Not sure about that Jens appears to be charging a flat rate for shipping ... everyone in the US is paying 24 Euro no matter how many boards they buy, extra items in the order, etc.

Re: C64 Reloaded

All of the pictures I've seen of the boxes show some serious damaged on the outside. Even my box looked like it had been bent in the middle, but the board was fine. They packed the boxes with some serious foam so everything is probably fine. Best to simply open and check everything out that way you can send them back on Monday. wink

Re: C64 Reloaded

Finally I can join the club of reloaded 64 board owners.

My reloaded 64 board was dispatched on 9-June and arrived 17-September. This is the first time I've had any issues with parcels in the post. Initial enquires suggest that DHL sent this parcel via sea freight which is quite frankly nothing short of cheap ass cost-saving and horrible customer service on their part.

I've also separately purchased a Netgear router power adapter (12V 2.5A) which additionally matches the <100MV ripple specifications.

I have discovered though that the board is very sensitive to static and really does need it's housing case for it to work effectively. It is only early days in my evaluation process using the board in-conjunction with a Ultimate 1541-II (Dec 2010 batch) but I've yet to encounter any issues. I did find it amusing that the Deus Ex Machina demo detected the board as an emulator yet it also thinks that VICE is a real C64. ops

I'm currently running the board through its paces with the newer SID (8580) as I've already put in a CPU (6510) and PLA. I'll follow-up with the C64 reloaded instructions for the filter jumpers to put in a older SID (6581R4). With that in-mind you must NOT use a newer SID in with those jumper settings or it is goodnight 8580.

Making up LED leads should be easy, just working out what colours would suit the red and transparent kickstarter cases. I've also noticed some movement on the Phase 5 keycaps (on indiegogo).

I did have the idea pixelling up a new 1x1 charset and adding JiffyDOS or Dolphin DOS in the ROMs but I'm now more focused on our CRPG project.

Re: C64 Reloaded

Early reviews are in for Commodore 64 Reloaded MK2:
- Reloaded MK2 board, 23-Nov (youtube) - Very quite speaking but some good info learnt
- Reloaded: MK2, 29-Nov (youtube)

Demonstration clips:
- Reloaded Mk2 SID Umschaltung [6581&8580] 19-Nov (youtube) switching between the SIDs.
- Reloaded MK2 Einbau in C64C, Bestückung und MSSIAH 30-Nov (youtube) - MSSIAH working which did not on MK1.

A lot more info on the functionality - C64 Reloaded MK2, Jiffydos, and the 1541 Ultimate II+

However having to use a PC via USB to configure the MK2 to your needs is a bit of put off for me. I've also had an issue with Jens' view on video output not willing to think of better solution like RGB.

This is a temping unit but I feel a FPGA solution (with HDMI) is the best way to go which we may see with the MK3.
