Re: C64 Reloaded

My real issue is getting one since Individual doesn't have a dealer in the US for a while now. Last time I check they wanted people to pay by bank transfer which is highly expensive transaction for someone in the US.

I hope it will be easier to get them in the US

Well, here is serial #01 of the C64 Reloaded boards. A guy known as "TheRealWanderer" on Forum64 won it through the email auctions, paying "four digit sum" for it.

Re: C64 Reloaded

Today is the day, sales start at 9AM my time, which is perfect. I normally get up at 9am, but today will get up at 8:30am and sit at the computer refreshing the screen until they are listed in stock.

I'm going to go ahead and buy the power supply (German plug) and the SuperPLA. He is only supplying PAL VIC-II with the board, so looks like I'm stuck with a PAL machine for now as the CSG8701 replacement circuit is also PAL only.

The next wave of C64 Reloaded boards will be available for sale on may 25th, 2015 at 18:00 CEST.

So maybe I won't buy the power supply, looking at this wall wart from my latest external HD from Samsung, all of the technical details are exactly the same. Could take my chances and save 15 Euro plus the hassle of buying an adapter for the damn plug.

I went ahead and post the details about this power supply to the thread on Lemon forums including some pictures.

Check it out Ray, this power supply is very easy to find online. Both Samsung and Seagate use it with their external HD setups.

It took 2.5 hours of refreshes but my order finally went through. If you check the Lemon thread mentioned earlier here, you'll see Jens didn't have a clue about demand and was trying to run his server on the cheap.

When my order went through, after 2.5 hours, it was only the second order to make it through!

So, sold out for now ... turns out most of the guys that started ordering at the same time as me didn't get an order put through. Quite some unhappy people that spent FIVE HOURS refreshing at the review order page and didn't get through.

I feel bad for them and can only imagine how pissed I'd be right now if that happened.

Re: C64 Reloaded

I was looking at these Power supplies for the c64 reloaded.

US Plug AC-100-240V-DC-12V 2A Power Supply 5.5x2.1mm/2.5mm (ebay) - this unit has ferrite band which supposedly surpasses high frequency noise on the power line.

very cheap also so figure if I got one today which I didn't  cry  I was going to get a couple.

Re: C64 Reloaded

Yeah, those are damn cheap ... Jens says my power supply will be fine, but might have a bit of interference with the screen output. We'll see, so many of these 12VDC wall warts on the market, no issue trying out ten of them until a good one is found.

Basically about a 2 week turn-around from purchase to delivery.

No 6510 or SID
Furthermore if you want to use NTSC mode, a different VIC-II and some jumper changes big_smile

I've just brought my set big_smile
Got a heads-up email

Re: C64 Reloaded

Package was shipped on May 29th and the DHL tracking showed Koln Germany the entire time, even today when delivered.

I'm probably going to use the C64R as a PAL setup and didn't feel the need to purchase 6510 or SID from Jens as I've got ~15 of each here.

Just need to source a display now, probably start looking into local supplies of Sony broadcast monitors. I've been looking at them for just over twenty years now and prices are finally coming down now that everyone has dumped pan'n'scan (4:3) formats.

Nice you got it. I need to follow closer to find out when the next stock are released I really want one. I would use it as the same since I dont have a PAL machine here. So Jon let us know which Sony monitor you get would like to get one as well.

Based on some unboxing videos...  I'm a little worried myself.

- Commodore 64 reloaded board in action [DE] - 13/5  (youtube)
- unboxing the new Commodore 64 - C64 Reloaded - 17/5 (youtube)
- Commodore 64 reloaded board in action - 30/5 (youtube)
- C64 Reloaded, The new Commodore 64 motherboard - 3/6 (youtube)

I do far better job packing-up items I sell on ebay (without trying).

Re: C64 Reloaded

Source: C64 reloaded (wiki.icomp.de)

Kernal ROM: "press and hold the RESTORE key for more than three seconds, the C64 Reloaded will switch to the other"

Char ROM: "alternate character ROM (for example for a localized font), just hold the RESTORE key during reset"

Therefore you can make a custom 1x1 font set (in Char ROM) big_smile Something I plan on doing.
